Great Local Places to Eat

Your Menu of Truly Fabulous Local Places to Eat Out

They say you ‘eat with your eyes’ and I certainly do so it’s not just the food that has to look (and taste) exceptional but the surroundings too.  All the places listed below have lovely atmospheres, fab food, inspirational interiors and gorgeous gardens so they fit the bill perfectly and all, are just that little bit special.  Enjoy!

The Cholmondeley Arms  (2 miles right out of the drive)

Wrenbury Road, Cholmondeley, SY14 8HN     01829 720300

Our personal favourite local but it seems the The Telegraph agree voting it one of the top 10 best rural pubs in Britain!  Until recently, the late Clarrissa Dickson Wright of ‘Two Fat Ladies’ fame was a regular sight sitting at the bar and would occasionally cook there too.  It’s an old converted school, open fires, beautiful surroundings, candle lit tables, fab food and over 366 different gins.  They do a gin tasting selection too for just £15 – heaven.  Don’t forget to book your taxis well in advance!

Fine dining meets sleepy market town!  Forget pub food, we are talking exceptional culinary skills, pared wines and just wait until you try their tasting menu with a specially selected wine accompanying every course!  This really is the fine dining dream – and what’s more, they can also offer a private dining experience for up to 20 guests so if you are staying at the barns as part of a group its really worth considering.

Churche’s Mansion
